Dear Parents,

According to the NM Compulsory School Act,  Belen Consolidated Schools is proactively seeking strategies to address the issue of chronic absenteeism.  The goal is to keep students in an educational setting.  Beginning January 3, 2012 student absences will be addressed individually by the school site and by the district's Student Support Programs Office.  Please see the following documents for more information...

Rio Grande Elementary students begin school at 8:30 a.m. and are dismissed at 2:55 p.m.

Rio Grande Elementary is committed to providing a quality education for all students.  Our ultimate goal is to create lifelong learners, who continually strive to reach their highest potential.

The EPSS Plan (Educational Plan for Student Success) at Rio Grande Elementary has been re-written to specifically target areas in need of improvement.  Our EPSS goals are as follows:

1. To improve students' reading skills.
2. To improve and address all student's specific math skills
3. To increase parent involvement.
4. To decrease discipline referrals.
5. To improve students' attendance.

Our main academic focus will continue to be reading and math.  Our 2011-2012 EPSS goals reflect areas in need and improvement.  We also recognize the importance that attendance and discipline play in academic achievement.
